Can the Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) process
cause employee turnover?
I was presenting at an ASQ event in Boston about “PPAP
Software – What works and does not work and Why?” One of the participants came up to me to ask
more questions. They said, “If I can’t
find a better PPAP solution than spreadsheets, I am going to quit.”
This person was a very intelligent, energetic, and driven
individual. They further explained that
they like the intent of the PPAP process and found it very interesting, but
using spreadsheets is very unproductive.
I never thought that companies can lose very qualified
employees by asking them to do unproductive PPAP work.
