AI Model Training Does Not Require Traditional Workflows - And What to Use Instead

Traditional IT workflows are often unsuitable for AI model training because they focus on rigid sequences rather than business intent and causal logic. This document argues that relying on such deterministic documentation leads to AI systems that lack operational intelligence and are difficult to maintain. To address these shortcomings, the author introduces the Integrated Process Excellence (IPE) framework, which organizes knowledge into a flexible hierarchy of Areas, Activities, and Elements.

This structured approach provides the necessary context, such as key performance indicators and accountability, that allows AI to understand why decisions are made. By utilizing IPE Packs, organizations can create a sustainable and auditable foundation for governable AI deployments. Ultimately, the text positions IPE as a superior method for transforming raw data into actionable business insights.
