Cleveland, Ohio – Jul 24 2024 – The aerospace
industry is facing significant hurdles in implementing the Advanced Product
Quality Planning (APQP) and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) standards
outlined in AS9145. Adopted from the automotive industry’s AIAG framework,
these standards are essential for ensuring product quality and safety. However,
challenges in data management and collaboration are hindering widespread
adoption.
While the aerospace industry has recognized the importance
of APQP and PPAP, the reliance on spreadsheets for managing this critical
business process has become a major bottleneck. The automotive industry has
successfully transitioned to relational databases to streamline these
processes, but the aerospace sector has been slower to adapt.
PeProSo, an internationally recognized subject matter expert
on APQP PPAP is working closely with aerospace OEMs and suppliers to address
these challenges. The company is developing a cost-effective, rapid deployment
solution that offers complete control over hosting, customization, and
integration. “We attempted to create a unified aerospace consortium to tackle
this issue, but encountered resistance from companies concerned about
proprietary data,” said John Cachat, CEO of PeProSo. “Some companies are even
attempting to develop their own solutions.”
A groundbreaking new approach to addressing these challenges
is expected to be unveiled following the upcoming airshow.
Efforts are underway to apply AI/ML digitization tools to
support APQP PPAP 4.0 effort.
