Open Semantic Interchange Standardization Challenges

Open Semantic Interchange (OSI) as a technical framework designed to standardize business definitions across various digital tools and platforms. While OSI creates a shared vocabulary for data, the author argues OSI lacks the organizational structure to manage the human and operational elements of data governance. To bridge this gap, the Integrated Process Excellence (IPE) framework is presented as a necessary partner that provides a structured, six-step deployment model. The IPE model utilizes a causal data architecture to link technical metrics to specific business processes and human owners. By integrating OSI and IPE, organizations can establish a complete "trust stack" where AI agents understand both the meaning of data and the underlying business logic. Ultimately, the sources position IPE as the essential grammar that gives OSI’s semantic vocabulary operational purpose and long-term sustainability.
